Hambledon’s Parish Assembly takes place this evening (Thursday April 22nd) and all villagers are welcome to attend virtually.
Because of Coronavirus pandemic restrictions, this annual opportunity to catch up on what village groups, organisations, clubs and societies have been doing will take place by video conferencing using the Zoom platform.
The assembly will start at 7.30 but those wishing to attend are asked to join the Zoom meeting up to 10 minutes before to allow for admittance. Details of how to join and a copy of the evening’s agenda can be found at the end of this article.
Representatives from activities across the parish will give their reports by video or they will be read out. The assembly is hosted by Hambledon Parish Council, and its chairman John Anderson will give his report at the beginning.
Villagers are invited to listen to the reports, and the meeting has a capacity for approximately 70 viewers.
They will be muted once admitted, but there will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end. In order to better manage the meeting, only councillors, clerk and contributors will appear on screen. The meeting is expected to last for about 90 minutes.
Usually, the assembly takes place at the village hall, with drinks and refreshments at the start, but the current restrictions would severely limit attendance. As last year’s assembly had to be cancelled because of the first lockdown, it was decided to use Zoom to make sure this year’s meeting did not suffer the same fate. Reports will cover the previous 24 months.
For those unable to attend, a full account of the meeting will appear in a forthcoming edition of the parish magazine and on this website.
If you should wish to see the parish council’s latest financial statements, or to see the minutes of the last assembly in 2019, they can be found here.
