Halloween at The Shop & Calling all Choristers

The Shop will be holding their Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest on Sunday 29th October. Entries must be in by 11am. Also there will be a prize for every entrant in fancy dress – no costume, no prize!

And…. it’s not too late to enter the “Guess the weight of the pumpkin competition”. £1 per guess, all proceeds to MacMillan.

SAVE THE DATE – under the guidance of David Kirby, the shop choir will once again be performing their renditions of carols and other Christmas songs, at the shop, at lunchtime on Christmas Eve. Come along, sing along and enjoy minced pies and mulled wine. The choir is open to all, we’ll be having a practice or two before the main event, if you’re interested in getting involved, please click here to email Jon.

I think it might be 25 years today since we opened the shop again after maybe 2 years of closure.

I remember painting etc to get it ready. Virginia Bottomley was at the opening ceremony I think.

I acted as bookkeeper for a few years and also shared as volunteer manager when we were without a manager for a while.

I can see that the shop has come a long way since its humble reincarnation. A cafe was just a pipe dream then.

Good Luck with the next 25 years.
