Family History Question 1 Year, 8 Months ago
After years of searching I have discovered relatives of mine lived in your delightful Village just as the 2nd World War broke out. I am wondering if anyone remembers them?
Alfred Edwin Cross was a Blacksmith (and, I believe, a Thatcher) and he was living with his wife, Ann Isabella, at Forge Bungalow, Hambledon in 1939. Ann was fever Nurse, presumably at the local Hospital. I do not know how long the couple were living in Hambledon, but Alfred died in 1943 aged 58 years and by that time they had moved to Chelsham.
Any information relating to the Family, or the address where they lived will be welcomed. I made the mistake of assuming Hambledon was the Hampshire Village, so have been on a wild Goose chase trying to track down the Bungalow!
Many thanks in anticipation,
Antony

Hi Antony,

I can't help you directly with your quest, but there were three local hospitals: King George V, St. Thomas' and Milford.

Many thanks for pointing me in the direction of this informative and interesting site. As yet I do not know for certain where Ann Cross was working as a Fever Nurse whilst living in Hambledon. Do you happen to know where the Forge was/is? Alfred and Ann Cross lived at Forge Bungalow, Alfred being a Blacksmith.
Many thanks for your reply,
Antony
