Millers Cans 3 Years, 1 Month ago

Reeived from millers Thank you for contacting MillerCoors.
We appreciate you taking the time and writing in; however, we cannot determine which store or when the cans of beer were purchased by our codes. The codes provided allows us to determine the best sell by date of the product.
MillerCoors distributes its products on a three-tier system. We sell our products to distributors/wholesalers, who in turn sell to retailers (both on-premise and off-premise accounts), and the retailers sell the beer to consumers. MillerCoors and our distributors cannot sell directly to the consumers. Once the beer leaves our brewery, it is in the jurisdiction of the distributors and stores. We no longer maintain information on the product.
Unfortunately, more precise information on our distribution is considered proprietary and is not available to the general public. We recommend looking in the local directory under "beer and ale" or inquiring at the local stores as to who is the local distributor in your area. This company will assist you further with product availability.
Sincerely,
MillerCoors Consumer Affairs Department Ref: Case#N20154165

I think this is an opportunity for the whole village, and particularly those who live in the Vann Lane area, to undertake some discreet detective work. When this problem was first mentioned to me, I was told of someone who was suspected of buying the cans at Witley Wines and then drinking them as he drove along Vann Lane before reaching home. I will contact the person who mentioned this to me and see if I can find out more. In the meantime, let us all keep our eyes peeled. Direct intervention is not a good idea, but a registration number, make or colour of car, is all that we need to pass the information on to our neighbourhood specialist police officer Sam Barnett and she will do the rest. She can be reached on 01483 638878 or 07967 988803. This littering is a serious and persistent problem and must be stopped.

I'm afraid the problem is all the way down Roundals Lane, to the old brick yard. There must be approx 100 tins of Millers in the roadside ditch that runs down the length of the Lane down to the yard gates which leads me to think it may be fisherman who visit the brickyard ponds. I'll get it cleaned up but I think it's going to be difficult to pin this on anyone as they come and go at odd hours. :(

Witley wines certainly do sell Millers and I enquired ( discreetly) ! if some-one purchased a lot and often! But...perhaps something is happening . I put up a notice at the junction with Upper Vann Lane "Millers beer drinker Please take your cans home. 110 collected on Sunday here". Today... my notice has been replaced with one saying "OK" or is some-one a joker?

Welcome Wayne!
Mary, that will be a welcome development if the "mystery can flinger" has responded. Just a thought - why would they dump them specifically there? Maybe it is the distance from the train station in which you can consume a can of beer on a regular trip?
PS 100+ cans... this sounds like a job for AA.
