There is a new "amateur" footpath sign 400 yards West of the Hydestile crossroads.... I believe this directs people along a newly created footpath across the field around the back of houses on the North side of Station Lane heading towards Milford. Where does this emerge? There is little evidence where the path goes (and no-one seems to have used it) and the implication is that you have to proceed amongst the fruit in the field. Without a certain exit, I doubt many would proceed.
This road is very dangerous for walkers and cyclists and we desperately need a simple cyclepath alongside the road path. I don't think this indistinct, indirect path for 40% of the route is any help at all.
We don't need a full highways compliant roadsurface, with extensive, expensive signage and laybys and whatever else is imposed these days... just a cinder path from the crossroads to the station on the verge. then just maybe the children will get on bikes to go to school, rather than many families making numerous car journeys each day.
Does anyone agree?
