| Waverley Rejects Dunsfold Masterplan |
|
If you have not already heard, Dunsfold Park’s proposal to build 2,600 houses on the site of the former aerodrome was refused almost unanimously by Waverley planners. Three Lib Dem councillors abstained, the remaining 45 councillors voted against the plans. This is a major victory for those of us campaigning against the proposed New Town.
The developer now has the right to lodge an appeal which, if made, would mean the final decision would be made by the Secretary of State following a public inquiry. However at this stage Jim McAlister is quoted as saying that they are “considering their options”. This campaign group urges them to think long and hard before lodging an appeal which would use up a great deal of public money at a time when it can be ill afforded. We also urge you, if you are a customer of RBS, NatWest or Coutts, to write to their senior management expressing your concern at their involvement (they own 50% of Dunsfold Park Ltd.) and calling upon them to drop the masterplan. You should mention the exact nature of your customer relationship with them and send it by email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or by regular mail to Sir Fred Goodwin Office of the Group Chief Executive The Royal Bank of Scotland 12th Floor 280 Bishopsgate London EC2M 4RB Regards The SDPNT Campaign Team |
