Parish Council precept capped |
Most of your Council Tax is spent by Surrey, Surrey Police and Waverley; but it also includes a small element for Hambledon – the Parish Council precept. This is agreed annually by the Parish Council which has decided to cap this year’s precept at last year’s level.
The precept is used to pay for village maintenance; grants to key village organisations; administrative costs such as insurance and the annual audit fee; and the Clerk’s salary. A contribution is also made towards the up-keep of footpaths. In view of the economic downturn, it was thought inappropriate to ask villagers for more money than was absolutely necessary and instead to use the Parish Council’s modest reserves for any essential expenditure that cannot be met from the precept.
