To celebrate our new chairs, curtains and the painting of the hall, the management committee would like to invite all residents of Hambledon for tea and cake. It will be our opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has generously donated funds which have enabled all these improvements to be made. It will also be a chance for everyone in the village (not just donors) to come and see how lovely the hall is looking and to find out about the exciting events which will be happening at the hall over the coming year. We hope to see you there!

The Village Hall Committee would like to thank everyone for coming to the quiz on Saturday 17th November. It was great fun and early indications suggest we raised a healthy amount for the Village Hall maintenance funds. Below is a photo of an earring which was lost at the quiz. We will put it in the village shop for collection.

There are still a few tickets left for the quiz night at the Village Hall this Saturday. Don’t miss out on a great evening of knowledge-testing, delicious cottage pie, a well-stocked bar and a great raffle! All proceeds to the Village Hall. Tickets available at the village shop – £12 each.

At the end of September we received the fantastic news that our application for funding had been approved and that the Hambledon Community Fund is very generously paying for new stage curtains for the village hall. This will make a big difference to the hall and we are extremely grateful. Most of our new chairs have now arrived, just a few more and the nameplates to come. The hall has been decorated and we’ve got a new rainwater soak-away under the car park. Once the new curtains have arrived we will be hosting an open afternoon with tea and cake so that everyone in the village can come along and see how the hall is looking, spot their chair (!) and find out what’s going on at the hall. This will also be our opportunity to thank everyone who has so generously given their support and contributed to the improvements we have been able to make. Watch this space for the date!

Thanks to the huge generosity of the people of Hambledon, we have now had sponsorship for all fifty of the new chairs we need for the Village Hall which is such a fantastic result. When our secretary, Paul Vacher, suggested the idea, we thought it was a great plan and we have been overwhelmed by the support the scheme has had.

We are also enormously grateful to the Hambledon Midsummer Festival organising team for their extremely kind donation of £2,000 which will pay for a new rainwater soak-away under the hall car park. We are very hopeful that this will improve the problem of damp in the hall.

Having this vital work paid for and our new chairs sponsored means that we now have funds available to have the interior of the hall redecorated and some necessary repairs carried out on the exterior woodwork.

We will serving tea and homemade cakes at Vann on Monday 7th May from 2 pm onwards. Most cakes are baked by village hall committee members. For our effort, the hall usually receives a generous donation from Mary Caroe.  This will be added to hall maintenance fund.

For a change,  the weather looks to be kind to us this year, so please do come and enjoy both the garden and the cakes!

Yet again, the villagers of Hambledon have not only given us their jumble but also turned up on Saturday 21 April to buy (not the same things they had donated). Thank you for your generous support. We would also like to thank Michelle, her daughter, Edna Atkin, Pip and Coral who helped man the stalls.

The sale caused a traffic jam. Apologies to the residents opposite the hall as a few cars were sent past their houses to unblock the gridlock.

The Jumble sale together with cash donations from Pat Williams and Philip Underwood have brought the total raised to £1005 for the hall’s maintenance fund. This will go in part towards new chairs and stage curtain.

Another good quiz in the Village Hall   – thank you to all those 80+ who bought tickets, turned up and made such a success of the evening.  It wasn’t just knowing and remembering the answers, one had to know when to use that multiplier!  Win or lose, everyone had a good time and enjoyed their cottage pie. Congratulations to the winning team ” Sextuplets”. Also thank you to Mary Parker and Anthea Edwards for kindly donating extra raffle prizes (cake and gel nails) and Robin Cole for his photocopying.

On top of a super evening, the grand sum of £1137 was raised for the Village Hall.
