Village Film Night Cancelled
With coronavirus in mind, the village hall committee have taken the decision to cancel our film nights until further notice.
The hall is still open for bookings, clubs and classes as usual but we would like users to bear in mind the fact they do so at their own risk.
Downton Abbey This Saturday at the Village Hall
Don’t forget to get your tickets for Hambledon Film Night’s showing of Downton Abbey, this Saturday, Feb 29th at the Village Hall.
Those who have already seen it say that it is just as enjoyable for people who have never seen the TV series as it is for those who have watched every episode. What better way to spend a rainy February evening than meeting up with friends over a drink and watching a great film!
Tickets are £5 from the village shop. Doors open at 7.30 and the film starts at 8pm.

Cub Scouts Returning to the Village Hall.
We have the very exciting news that from January 2020 a Cub Scout pack will be meeting in the Village Hall every Friday evening during term time.
Busbridge and Godalming Cubs have been very oversubscribed for a while and are now pleased to be starting a new pack in Hambledon. Whilst a lot of places will be taken up with children from their existing waiting list, there are currently still places available. It is open to girls and boys aged from seven and a half to ten years old.
This is fantastic news for a village without a school where opportunities for children to get together are, naturally, limited. Of course Cubs and Brownies did used to meet regularly at the village hall and there are ex Cubs and Brownies amongst us. However, no one seems to know exactly how long it is since Cubs have met at the Hall so we would be very grateful to hear from anyone who knows!

Tickets Still Available for the Village Quiz
Tickets are still available for the annual quiz at the Village Hall this Saturday, November 30th. Come along for a fun evening of testing your powers of recall, a jolly good shepherd’s pie, licenced bar and fantastic raffle. Tickets £12.50 from the Village Shop. Either book a table for a team of 6 or buy individual tickets and we will put you in a team with others. It’s a great way to get to know people in the village.

And, if there weren’t enough twists in the tale, BlackBox present this story of daring do as a live radio drama.
It’s November 1962 and with just ten minutes to go before the show is broadcast live to the nation, half the cast haven’t turned up, there’s no one to do the sound effects and they’ve just run out of Bourbon biscuits!! What could possibly go wrong?
The 39 Steps : A Live Radio Drama is an irreverent and affectionate take on one of our best loved stories. Full of thrills and spills, it’ll keep you on the edge of your seats and crying with laughter.

Caretaker/Cleaner Required for the Village Hall
We require a part-time, self-employed caretaker/cleaner for the village hall to work from two to five hours a week carrying out general cleaning and basic maintenance . Flexibility is necessary as the caretaker will need to be at the hall on different days of the week and with varying frequency depending on hall usage.
Rate of pay is £100 per month irrespective of hours worked.

Folk songs and Dolly Parton songs at the Village Hall, this Friday (11th) at 7pm!
Come along to the Village Hall this Friday (11th) evening, 7pm for 7.30 for a wonderful evening of strytelling, comedy, a bit of audience participation and fantastic music.
The award-winning Little Bulb Theatre Company presents Mountain Music, the story of the people who left the British Isles for a new life in America taking with them their traditional folk music. We will be taken on their journey with them and experience the development of those folk songs into modern day country music. There will be old folk songs, there will be Patsy Klein, Dolly Parton and even Witney Houston!

We are showing Fisherman’s Friends, a comedy based on the true story of a group of shanty-singing Cornish fishermen.

‘Mountain Music’ at the Village Hall – October 11th,
On Friday, October 11th the Village Hall Committee is hosting a new musical production called Mountain Music from the award-winning Little Bulb Theatre Company. It is part of an initiative by Farnham Maltings, supported by Waverley Borough Council to promote theatre in Village Halls and the production is currently on a national tour.
It tells the story of American country music from its celtic origins in the UK to the present day. It is performed by a small group of talented musician/actors and we are expecting beautiful harmonies, swinging country music and a good old-fashioned hoedown!
