GMB union members working for Biffa, the council’s waste contractor, have voted for industrial action. This strike action is expected to occur between Thursday 3 November and Wednesday 23 November. It will affect all bin collections and street cleansing services across Waverley. The discussions between GMB and Biffa are ongoing and so may still be averted.

The London Dynamo Summer Road Race is taking place on Sunday 19th June. Some junctions on the route will be temporarily closed by qualified marshals for a couple of minutes to allow cyclists to pass safely. The course runs down anti clockwise on a circular route from Prestwick Lane. They will head north up Petworth Road through Chiddingfold and finally back south at Wormley down Combe Lane. The numbers on the map show the marshalled junctions.

Hambledon Parish Council have been notified of the following planned road closures between now and mid-February:

1. Church Lane, road closure for resurfacing by Surrey County Council Highways Department for 1 day on 28th January 2022
2. Rock Hill, traffic controls, (road will be open but expect delays) for resurfacing by Surrey County Council Highways Department for 1 day on 28th January 2022
3. Bridleway 131 from Potters Hill. Closed on 9th February 2022 for BT Openreach works.
4. Station Lane, road closure by Network Rail on 16th and 17th February 2022.

Waverley Borough Councillors, Jan Floyd-Douglass and Trevor Sadler are jointly hosting a surgery at Hambledon Parish Church’s church room on Saturday 22nd February from 10.30am to 12.30pm. This is an excellent opportunity for villagers to meet Councillors who represent them at borough level where they can discuss concerns, or simply go along to introduce themselves.

Cllr Floyd-Douglass says the following:
“We are holding our first ward ‘surgery’ between 10.30am-12.30 at Hambledon Village Church Hall. Please come and talk to us about any matters specifically affecting Hambledon residents or more widely, the Borough”.

Salt Lane will be closed from its junction with Hambledon Road (Hydestile Crossroads) West to Chestnut Cottage ( the very sharp bend in the road opposite the old hospital entrance ) from 18th November 2019 to allow for SGN to carry out gas mains replacement works. The work is scheduled to be completed within 5 weeks of the date of commencement. Diversions will be in place along Clock Barn Lane and Hambledon Road for traffic. Access will be permitted for cyclists, equestrian users and pedestrians alongside residents and emergency services. All other traffic will be required to use the diversions which will be put in place.

Markwick Lane will be temporarily closed between the junction of Mare Lane and the access road to Little Burgate Farm for one week from 24^th June 2019.  Traffic will be diverted along Markwick Lane, Godalming Road, The Street and Mare Lane.  This is to allow cabling and tree cutting works for BT Openreach. It is anticipated that the works will be carried out between the hours of 9am and 5pm.

The road will remain open to pedestrians, dismounted cyclists and equestrians during this time.

Waverley Borough Council offices will close for Christmas at 4pm on Monday 24 December 2018 and will reopen at 8.45am on Wednesday 2 January 2018.

Garden waste collection service

There are no garden waste collections in the weeks beginning 24 December 2018 and 31 December 2018.

SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL PROPOSE TO MAKE the above mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of The Cricket Green (D166) and Vann Lane (D166), Hambledon that extends from the junction with Lane End (C31) and Malthouse Lane (C31) eastwards to the junction with Woodlands Road (D166). This Traffic Order is required to enable BT Openreach to carry out ducting and/or cabling works. These works are anticipated to be carried out in two phases within the six month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 20 November 2018: a) from 20/11/18 to 25/11/18, with working hours anticipated to be from 18:30-00:00; and b) from 03/01/19 to 04/01/19, with working hours anticipated to be from 09:30-15:30. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closures will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. For part a) Access for emergency services, residents, businesses, pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times. The vehicular diversion route will be via Malthouse Lane and Woodlands Road. For part b) the temporary closure anticipated to be required will extend from the junction of Woodlands Road (D166) and Vann Lane (D166), Hambledon westwards for a distance of 250 metres; for part b) access for, pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times, access for emergency services, residents, businesses, will be maintained via the vehicular diversion route as described above.

Waverley Borough Council has decided to update and extend its consultation on two proposed new orders that aim to deal with dog fouling and dog control issues in the borough.
People now have until Friday 14 September to give their views on the two draft Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs), which have been developed to ensure dogs are responsibly managed by their owners at all times in public spaces.

If adopted, the first order will result in a ban on dog fouling across the entire borough, meaning dog owners and dog walkers will need to clean up and dispose of dog mess properly. The second order will target issues of dog control, including: requiring owners to keep dogs on leads in certain areas and during specified dates, excluding dogs from designated spaces – such as children’s play areas – and a condition to only allow dog walkers to walk up to four dogs at once.
