UPDATE – Hambledon Village Shop

With immediate effect the shop will be moving to a delivery/collection service only. No customers will be allowed inside the shop except for essential Post Office transactions. Customers can shop from the front door of the shop by giving their requests to the staff/volunteers in attendance

We strongly urge you to place orders for collection or delivery by email to [email protected]. By using email you keep the shop phone line free and save us considerable time. If you are unable to place an order by email call us on 01428 682176. Orders for delivery or collection on the same day should be placed by 11am.

There will be no takeaway food or hot drinks.

Thank you for your understanding and please stay safe.

Information from Hambledon Village Shop regarding a volunteer testing positive for Coronavirus

One of our volunteers tested positive for Coronavirus on Friday 19th March.

Their last shift was on Thursday 12th March from 11:00-13:00. We believe that they may have been in the shop since, but we cannot confirm this.

We looked at the current government guidance and, on the basis of that, have decided to keep the shop open.

We send our love and support to our dear friend and their family.

If you’ve visited the shop in the last few days, you will know that we are encouraging social distancing by allowing only three customers in the shop at a time and we are asking everyone to de-sanitise their hands before entering the shop. We have a group of volunteers who are helping to apply these procedures at the entrance to the shop. These volunteers are also able to organise for your shopping to be done for you if, for any reason, you would prefer not to enter the shop. We ask that, if at all possible, payments at the shop are made by card, not cash.

The shop is currently well stocked and open its usual hours. Unfortunately we will not be able to operate the Post Office on Monday afternoons for the foreseeable future, other than that the Post Office is operating as normal.

Hambledon Village Shop – Delivery/Collection Service

From Friday 20th March, Hambledon Village Shop will be offering a delivery/collection service. The delivery service is aimed at those required to self-isolate. The collection service is primarily for those that are able to visit the shop, but would prefer not to enter the shop. We encourage people if at all possible to use the collection service in preference to the delivery service. There is no charge for either service.

Customers can email orders to [email protected] at any time, if email is not an option, orders can be made by phoning the shop on 01428 682176 during shop hours. Please note that if you are calling, the best time to do so is between 9:30am and 10:30am or 2:30pm and 3:30pm when the shop is relatively quiet. 3:30pm is the latest an order can be placed for same day delivery or collection.

When placing an order, either by email or phone you must leave a contact number and postcode.

We will attempt to meet your requests as closely as possible but may make appropriate substitutions depending on product availability.

Collection

Orders for collection should be available to collect 1 to 2 hours after they are placed. You will receive a telephone call confirming that your collection is ready, at which point you should immediately arrange for collection. Orders cannot be set aside for next day collection. Payment should be made by card on collection.

Home Delivery

Free delivery, for those unable to visit the shop, will be available within a 2 mile radius of the shop. Orders for home delivery will be delivered on the day they are placed provided they are placed before 3:30pm. The delivery will be made by a village volunteer, who depending on the circumstances, may leave the delivery outside your property and call you to let you know it’s been delivered. Payment for home delivery should not be made on delivery, but should be arranged separately with the shop.

Many thanks to the volunteers who have already stepped forward to help with this service. We would ask you to bear with us while we get processes in place to deliver it in a timely manner. We would also ask that you only use these services if you need to. We reserve the right to refuse the service if we feel it is being abused.

Any questions about this service should be addressed to [email protected].
