Volunteer for Scouts

Our Volunteers:

Scouting in Godalming is entirely run by volunteers and we continually seek new volunteers to join us, helping with the teams running activities and the behind the scenes administration needed to support the groups run safely. Building a bigger team of volunteers means we can share roles and tasks to be done. There are multiple ways for volunteers to help:

Group Section Team Member -planning and running weekly meetings for our scouts. Having a bigger team means we don’t all need to be there every week.

District Activity Team Member – helping at some evening and weekend events throughout the year.

Trustee board  –  making sure Scouting is delivered safely for our scouts and volunteers and managing group finances.

Administration  – ordering badges and other supplies for the sections;  researching and booking activities and external visits for meetings; managing waiting lists and enquiries to groups; providing secretarial support to the trustee bord.

IT – website support and development.

Fundraising – these funds help keep down the cost of scouting for everyone.

Premises and grounds maintenance – both administrative and hands on tasks.

Without new volunteers joining us we couldn’t continue to grow and deliver scouting to all the young people asking to join. You don’t need to have been a scout before or have lots of camping experience. Volunteering with scouts adapts to your skills and experiences and the time you have available to give. Scouts provide all volunteers with full training and support for anything related to their role. You will be part of a friendly team with people ready to help you in your role. As well as the scouts having fun, learning something new and having a laugh, the volunteers do too.
