The true story of John Davidson, a boy growing up in the 1980s with Tourette’s. Diagnosed at fifteen, targeted as ‘insane’ by his peers, he struggled with a condition few had witnessed. Campaigning for better understanding and acceptance of the condition of as an adult, he finds his life’s purpose and accepted an MBE from the Queen in 2019.

Starring Robert Aramayo and Maxine Peake. Aramayo has just been awarded the Best Actor BAFTA for his role in this, despite being up against strong competition from Timothee Chalamet and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Anyone interested in being part of a new green woodwork group at The Garden House in Hydestile? We have some green wood bodging lathes, shaving horses and benches. A weekday slot – such as on Wednesday afternoon would work at our end.  If anyone in the area has a wood, trees or contact(s) for sourcing wood to be used by the project that would also be very useful and we will need to source some suitable tools. Typical projects might range from simple spoons and light pulls, through to stools or chairs and anything in-between.

The first day of December is the official start of the Meteorological Winter. Even before then, there was a significant cold snap followed by heavy rain and winds. In Hambledon, as elsewhere, frosts, snow flurries and blustery winds have reminded us that we should be prepared for potential disruption.

Waverley Borough Council has opened the consultation on its emerging Local Plan. This is an opportunity for residents to provide feedback on the document that will shape the future development of the borough. The consultation is now open and will run until Monday, 8th December.

Your input will help shape the future of the borough. By participating in the consultation, you can influence decisions that will impact the area’s growth and development over the coming years.

The Local Plan is a key planning document that guides how land is used and developed across Waverley. It sets out policies and proposals that act as a roadmap for the borough’s future, helping to ensure that new development supports local needs and reflects Waverley’s long-term vision. As part of this process, the Council has published an Issues and Options document, which identifies the main planning challenges facing the borough and presents potential ways to address them. Waverley has asked for feedback on this document.

1st Witley Scout Group are relaunching Beavers in November and would like to invite parents and their 6 to 7 year olds to join us for an Open Event on Tuesday November 4th where we’d love for you to come to the Jubillee Hall to experience some of the activities we run and see what Beavers is all about.      If you come along you’ll be able to sign up for 3 free taster sessions on consecutive Tuesdays with a view to sign up new Beavers for the start the new Beaver term in January.
