The speed watches have been in action in the village for the past few months, hopefully encouraging drivers to slow down! Teams of 2-4 spend a maximum of 2hrs at one of three locations, at times to suit team members. Some more participants would be much appreciated. In order to take part the police require your attendance at a training session.

Annual Parish Meeting, Thursday 23rd April from 7.30pm at the Village Hall
The Parish Council warmly invites everyone in the village to the Annual Parish Meeting, taking place in the Village Hall on Thursday 23rd April. This informal evening is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate everything that makes Hambledon special.
Representatives from a variety of local organisations will share short updates highlighting achievements, activities, and successes from the past 12 months. It’s a great chance to learn more about what’s happening in the village and discover new ways to get involved.
Doors open at 7.30pm and the meeting starts at 8pm, so come along early to enjoy a drink, and have a chat with neighbours before the meeting begins. Whether you’re new to the village or a long-time resident, everyone is welcome.
Following the Thursday evening, we’ll also be hosting our Annual Village Litter Pick, taking place on Saturday 25th April from 10am. This is a fantastic way to help keep our village looking its best and as a thank you to all volunteers, the morning will finish with a well-earned BBQ.
You’ll be able to sign up on Thursday night or in the village shop afterwards.
On Thursday 7 May 2026, elections for the new West Surrey Shadow Unitary Authority will be held. Registered local government electors will be able to vote for two candidates representing Waverley Eastern Villages.
Those elected will go on to form the new Unitary Authority (West Surrey Council). The new council will replace Surrey County Council and the Boroughs of Waverley, Guildford, Woking, Surrey Heath, Runnymede and Spelthorne. These county and borough councils will cease to exist on 1 April 2027.

Jane Woolley retires as co-editor end of May, so the village is urgently seeking either a new Editor or a small team of people who can share the work. For years, John Hindley (16 years) and Jane Woolley (12) have edited the magazine. The village and church magazine is produced monthly, and relies on a small team of volunteers.
Training and support will be provided, and the role divided according to people’s skills and availability. The roles are rewarding, sociable and keeps one in touch..

Many thanks to those who took the time to complete the survey about your Village Hall. We received 138 responses (from circa 450 copies delivered to village residents). A huge thank you to those people who kindly delivered all the copies and to the Village Shop for hosting a survey drop box.
‘No Surprises’
As a committee, we wanted to understand how the residents of Hambledon felt about the hall before we made financial commitments to renovation projects. The survey results show that the views of the committee do largely reflect the views of the village as a whole.

This year, Hambledon Heritage Society has invited a long-standing villager to deliver the presentation that follows the brief official business of its AGM.
Stewart Payne and his wife Mary Burrows arrived in Hambledon during the Great Storm of 1987. The village was cut off for days and had no power for weeks. A tree had crashed down beside their new home, just missing the house. Welcome to life in a small rural village.
His talk will embrace the almost 40 years they have lived at Hydestile and have been involved in community life across Hambledon parish, recalling the people and events that have made life so colourful and rewarding. It will be illustrated with film footage and a wealth of photographs. You may even be in it!

The Cricket Club AGM will be taking place on Tuesday 3rd March @ 8.00pm at the HCC Pavilion.
