The area around Hambledon offers great mountain biking and road cycling. If you want to start and end your cycle in Hambledon there are plenty of places to park and unload your bikes. If you’re cycling through Hambledon, excellent refreshments are available at the Village Shop cafe and The Merry Harriers.

If you want to hire a bike you can do so in the village from Surrey Hills Cycle Hire, they’ll deliver within the village.

If you live in or near Hambledon you can join the Hambledon Peddlers on their Thursday night rides in the summer.

Planning Your Route

Oaktree Routes have produced some laminated maps showing many of the bridleways and paths around Hambledon that are suitable for cycling with annotations advising on any steep gradients and trail conditions (some of the bridleways around Hambledon can get very muddy). These maps are for sale in The Village Shop and The Merry Harriers.

Surrey Hills Cycle Hire have a selection of routes starting and finishing at the village on their website.

Surrey Cycleway passes through Hambledon and uses quiet county roads (apart from the stretch at Alfold Crossways which uses the Alfold Bypass and should be avoided if possible). This link to OpenCycleMap shows the route of the Surrey Cycleway in blue. OpenCycleMap is an excellent tool to use to plan routes, it not only shows all the national cycle routes, but also the many bridleways around Hambledon (shown as green dashed lines).

A good way to view the most popular routes around the area is to use the Strava heat map. Two useful sites for plotting routes are gypsies.com and plotaroute.com.
