The Village Fete Meeting April 26th.
It is getting nearer-our fete on Saturday June 18th.The start will be outside the Village Shop at 1.45pm when the new bench to commemerate the Queen’s 90th birthday will be unveiled. We ask that children in fancy dress are present here at this time so that they can be judged and be amongst the first to use this seat.We will then have the children’s races,to be organised by Beth Clutterbuck. The Hawk and Owl show will be sited on the Cricket Square ,access to the public being forbidden on grounds of safety and protection of the grass. The dog show will follow in the adjacent arena at about 3pm.There will be the usual novelty classes with rosettes as prizes. We shall ,of course,be searching for the Hambledon Champion.
Then we shall have the Grand Draw at about 4pm.It is our hope that most of the tickets will be sold prior to the fete,as this is important. The money raised underpins the cost of putting on the fete,so please buy lots of tickets especially if approached on the day. This is in place of having no entrance fee.
Finally there will be a Tug of War.First the adults and then the children.
It promises to be a fun packed afternoon, with all the stalls, demonstrations, refreshments, sideshows, bouncy castle and slide, and a few special visitors turning up.
Please come and bring all your friends. All we need are the people and just a little of their money.
This is Hambledon-now

THE NEXT VILLAGE FETE MEETING-April 26th
This meeting will be held on Tues. April 26th in the Cricket Pavilion at 8pm. This is the meeting that counts. We need to be clear on all the stalls and stallholders and how it all works. We have people who have offered their help and we need to take this up. We need at least three more families to run the Bouncy Castle and slide. We need to be sure about a Plant stall and the Cake and Home Produce stall. We need above all to have the team set up for the cream teas in the pavilion.
Above all, we need everybody’s help to make cakes and home produce and bring them along; we shall need your bric-a-brac and full bottles; we shall also need you all to buy as many lottery tickets as possible with the wonderful prizes,to underpin the fete.
Please come to this meeting.
P.S. We need more stalls.

Hambledon Rambler’s long walk-March
Distance about 6 miles. Starting from the parking on Linchmere Common, over to Shulebrede Priory and back up a long ascent. We saw the work taking place, heard from Richard Appleby, a trustee, about the felled wood being used to heat a local school and about the history of Shulbrede Priory. Lunch was taken in The Mill, Shottermill.
