A Walk For A Good Cause – Will You Give Your Support?

If you spot Karen Barbato and Martin Thompson, a familiar face at the village shop, wandering around the village over the next few weeks, they are not just out for an idle stroll.

There is a good cause behind their new daily routine and one that Hambledon residents may wish to support.

Some will be aware that Karen Barbato lost her son Ben in very sad circumstances two years ago. The charity Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide – known as SoBS – was, in her own words “a great support during very dark days”.

Now Karen and Martin want to give something back to the the charity by joining in its nation-wide fund-raising campaign. Each day they will walk at least a mile around the village, whatever the weather, to achieve a total of 30 miles in 30 days. The campaign marks the charity’s 30th anniversary.

The picture above was taken this week as they walked across Hambledon Common.

There is a Just Giving page set up to raise money and awareness of the Guildford branch of SoBS and Karen will be extremely grateful to those who can help.
