Hambledon Village Show – Saturday 31st August

Don’t forget it’s the annual Hambledon Village Show this Saturday 31st August.

On the day of the Show, please drop off entries from 9.30am-11.30am at the Village Hall. It is FREE to enter your items! At 11.30am the Hall Closes for judging. After judging, the Show will be open to all from 2.00pm-4.30pm. Best in Show and the Underwood Cup is announced at 4.00pm. Then it’s on to the Village Shop BBQ….

The full category list is as follows:

Section 1: Flowers

1.   1 Flowered rose, with own foliage

2.   3 flowered roses, of different varieties

3. 3 dahlias, medium or small, any type

4.   1 Sunflower

5. 3 stems Marigolds, any type

6.   6 stems Sweet Pea

7.   3 stems of any type of flower not mentioned in this section.

8.   3 stems of any type of berrying or flowering shrub, any variety

9.   6 Fuchsia Floret, of the same variety (a mirror tile will be provided to display your florets)

10.   6 Flower Heads of the same variety floating on water (provide your own bowl/dish)

11.   5 stems of Grasses or Sedges, of different varieties

Section 2: Vegetables

12.   5 potatoes, one variety

13.   5 carrots

14.   5 onions

15.   3 beetroot

16.   3 parsnips

17.   3 leeks, trimmed

18.   8 runner beans

38.   Any other fruit exhibited on a plate (3 of the same fruit)

39.   Any berried fruit exhibited on a plate (5 of the same berried fruit)

Section 4: Handicrafts & Art

40.   A home made woollen Pom-Pom animal or toy

41.   An example of a hand crafted item: Pottery, wood carving, or metalwork

42.   A Watercolour painting (A3 max size)

43.   A hand written Poem, created and worded by you

Section 5: Floristry

44.   A floral arrangement: ‘Ring ‘a’ Ring of Roses, a pocket full of Posies 

       (colours and varieties   may be mixed, no thorns.  Not to exceed 50cms in height, 

        width and depth).

45.   A floral arrangement in a Welly Boot, Trainer, or Shoe (accessories allowed). 

         A clear jam jar may be used to put inside footwear for water.

Section 6: Home Baking

46.   6 Sausage Rolls (Your own recipe, homemade pastry)

47.   6 Home made Chocolate Muffins (your own recipe)

48.   Home made Coffee & Walnut cake (Your own recipe. Max 10” in diameter)

Section 7: Preserves, Home made

49.   Strawberry Jam 

50.   Raspberry Jam

51.   Marmalade (any variety)

52.   Chutney (any variety: sweet or spicy) 

53.   Honey (from you own garden hive)

54.   Preserve of any variety not mentioned above

Section 8: Photography

55.   Your own photo (1 max) of ‘Sunset’ unframed and unmounted, max 10 x 8 inches 

         (colour or black and white prints)

56.   Your own photo (1 max) of ‘A Seascape’, unframed and unmounted max 10 x 8 inches 

        (colour or black and white prints)

57.   Your own photo (1 max) of ‘Wildlife’, unframed and unmounted, max 10 x 8 inches

Section 10: Children – 12 years and under

58.   Miniature Garden (in a container, no larger than A3, max height 10 inches)

59.   A Face on a paper plate: add wool for hair, tissue paper etc, make from any materials

62.   LEGO: Build your own Lego car (no bigger than A4 and not straight from shop)
