Hambledon Reserves claimed the SCILW Premier Reserves Title on Saturday with a resounding 6-0 win over Surrey University. With three games to still to play the Dons sit 17 points clear of nearest rivals Wrecclesham. A fantastic achievement with not many remaining from our title winning side last season. With numerous players making the step up to the first team and a few moving away. The Reserves have been largely made up of players over 35. Still plenty of legs left in the old boys.
Many thanks to our Vets team who also stepped up to help when player shortage hit – Ben Bewsey, Rob Green and Paul Cook in particular. A run of 16 straight wins put the Dons in a great position before the first points were dropped against Guildford United in a 2-2 draw before suffering their first and only defeat of the season away to Wrecclesham. Before they regrouped to go on another unbeaten run. With three games left the Dons will be hoping to conintue their fine form.
Congrats to Matt Kiley, Carlo Moriano and the team on retaining the title.
